Israel Reserve Force Stamp
The fact that the stamp issued in May 2005, armed soldiers of the military Reserve Force are seen on active duty in the circumstances of every day life, protecting and assisting the community, speaks eloquently of the hazards faced by Israeli citizens in these days. The tab displays the Reserve Force emblem and logo. The Israeli Reserve Force was established as part of the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) between 1949-1950 for the purpose of a large rotating Reserve supporting a smaller force of regular soldiers in active service. This call-up system has proven particularly efficient when responding to unexpected military threats against Israel, in view of the country’s limited availablility of manpower and economic constraints. Reservists generally serve for one month yearly, depending on training requirements and planned activities, though they can be called up without any advance notice and many kept on duty for six months at a time.
The stamp with an information sheet are enclosed in a plastic protection sheet
