Rechavam Ze’evy (Gandi) Stamp
Stamp and tab of the August 2002 issue show the portrait of the late Israeli Statesman and Army General, Rechavam Ze’evy. He was known as Gandi, and born in Jerusalem to a family that had been established int he Land for six successive generations. In 1844, he joined the “Palmach,” and became its leading officer. After the Yom Kippur war Mr. Ze’evy became Advisor to Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin on counter-terrorism and then national Intelligence. A man of the Book (Bible) he was committed to the Hebrew language and to research into matters concerning the Land and its people. He was one of the great advocates of an undivided land of Israel he fought zealously for Israel’s rights and freedom. The stamp with an information sheet are enclosed in a plastic protection sheet.
