Israel’s Water Source Stamp

Israel is situated in a water-scarce area, on the edge of a “desert belt”, the geographical area between the Negev and Judean deserts and the Mediterranean region, which is more humid. Israel’s successful water economy policy has promoted and implemented a significant desalination program which is changing and guiding the water economy into a new era, incorporating innovative management approaches, creative thinking and advanced technologies. National achievements in areas of desalination, reuse and water conservation have brought about a real change from dependency on sparse weather conditions. It is to be expected that in the near future over fifty percent of all water utilised nationwide will be manufactured this way. Processing additional water via desalination will thus see Israel’s limited natural water sources protected from being exploited further, aiming at their restoration. Israel has created a basis for the integrated management of all its water sources, making it possible to reliably provide water for all purposes and to all consumers while preserving its natural water sources. The design of this stamp features a schematic diagram of the desalination process and was issued 5th February, 2013 . The stamp with an information sheet are enclosed in a plastic protection sheet.
